My goal is to have the most positive impact that I can on the lives of the people that I work with; helping them become the healthiest, wealthiest, happiest version of themselves.
This goes way beyond helping people look the best they ever have, that’s a given, this also covers performance, mindset, motivation and lifestyle.
I think I am well equipped for this role because I live and breathe it. And not to the point of obsession or deprivation, as neither I believe are conducive to a healthy life. Yes you can have your cake and eat it! I’m passionate about helping people find the right balance for them, which means that they can enjoy their lives to the fullest whilst looking, feeling and performing how they want to.
I, like anyone else, find inspiration in instances of individuals who have undergone a tremendous body transformation or undergone a wholesale lifestyle adjustment from routinely sedentary to always active, but mine is a boring one I'm afraid. I can't say I've gone from 'fat to fit' as I've routinely exercised since I was a nipper! I participated in almost everything at school (I was sports-day captain, haha), played football since nappies to my mid-thirties, county badminton and cricket in my teens, later tennis and distance running - and I've been lifting weights at the gym since I was around 16 as well.
Exercise came quite naturally to me which meant I enjoyed it and therefore felt positive reinforcement to continue to play and practice which compounds over time leading to further improvement and joy. I recognise this can work both ways though, which is why many people struggle to get started or stick with sport and exercise when they're given the choice later on.
It stands to reason that the longer you've been habitually doing something, whether it be positive or negative, the easier it is to do. Making fitness an integral part of your lifestyle is best done at a young age, but if this doesn't apply to you then take my assurance that the very next best time to start is right now - it's never too late!
So, for the mums and dads out there keep this in mind and use this as fuel to drive you to set a great example for your kiddy-winks. If you're not in the child rearing game then just like any parent, first and foremost, do it for yourself! Your health is your wealth, as demonstrated by almost any happy, high-performing individual you can name and the attainment of all of life's goals starts with a strong and fully functioning mind and body, which you can only achieved through regular exercise.
Back to my story: As I've aged I've only gotten fitter too, as I become more informed and disciplined in my approach. It's easier when you're in your twenties: you can eat whatever you like, drink loads (even have the occasional smoke), and skimp on sleep without really suffering the consequences. Well sadly that cloak of invincibility will eventually disappear, and whist I've never been overly excessive, as I've grown older my determination to move regularly, nourish my body well, take adequate time to rest and recover, and focus on my mental and spiritual wellbeing has done so in tandem.
In my earlier years, my desire to be a better badminton or football player fuelled my drive to workout but it wasn't until much later on that I realised that this way of life was helping me to function properly by regulating my emotions to manage my state of mind.
Nowadays I've come to appreciate that exercise is my medicine. On the days when I don't workout everything feels harder; just that little bit fuzzier, duller, tiring... scarier sometimes too. Fitness is empowering and it makes you feel amazing!
Overall, exercise is essential to both a sound body and mind, because the quality of your mind dictates the quality of your experiences, and you only get one body to live in so do everything in your power to look after it and this will allow you to live more.
As for my coaching experience, I started out as a self-employed personal trainer for a few years, doing 1-2-1 sessions from my parents garage and in the local park, where I'd also go on to deliver group bootcamps. Soon my schedule was very full and honestly I was exhausted and needed a change.
So I moved to Melbourne for a year in 2017 where I gained further gym experience at 9Round Kickboxing, F45 Training, and Snap Fitness - the latter two I would continue to work at for a time when I returned to Bristol. Whilst in Australia I also gained an Online Trainer Academy certification, having recognised before I left that exchanging my time for money was limiting, both in personal income as well as the amount of people I was able to serve.
So when Covid came I felt I was slightly ahead of the curve, when the understanding of and appreciation for online training came into sharp focus. Yet it is still a relatively new and exciting way to offer life-changing transformation and fitness coaching to clients. It can be utilised by anyone, anywhere, offering convenience, responsiveness, flexibility, and affordability. I’m now able to empower my clients with more accountability and support than I ever could in person.
Leveraging the power of the internet and cutting out the overhead costs of the gym means that you get more for your hard-earned money. Online platforms and mobile communication tools keep me wired and accessible to my clients even if they’re hundreds or thousands of miles away. Simply put: my online clients get SO much more from me than an in-person clientele ever could.
The best part? The programme is your programme. No longer limited by the rules of the gym, scheduling necessities, and financial obligations to a host or other parties, I can give you precisely what you need, when you need it, no matter how those needs may change over time, wherever you or I may be!
I’ve been a Personal Trainer - or Health and Fitness Coach, which to my mind more suitably encapsulates the role - since 2013, and I’ve worked with hundreds of people in that time. I love to coach people, whether that be online in my 'Just Move With Jack' programme or in-person at my weekly bootcamp 'F-HIIT Club', which I restarted in 2022.
Because I understand what my clients really want, I can provide the perfect environment to give them what they need. If you think I can help you then do get in touch, I’m excited to start working with you!
And just so you understand me a little more personally too: I’m a big Arsenal F.C fan, I’ve seen Red Hot Chili Peppers perform live 11 times, I will often quote Alan Partridge, and I’ll happily eat sausage rolls and Haribo Starmix everyday - though obviously I do not!

Q&A Corner
1. What are your current hobbies?
At the moment I am developing my skills in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, golf, and playing the acoustic guitar. Very much a beginner still on all fronts!
2. Where have you visited in the world that left a strong impression on you?
I am very fortunate to have been to some incredibly beautiful spots, a few that spring to mind include...
The Atlas Mountains in Morocco, the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Queenstown in New Zealand, The Grand Canyon in Arizona, Halong Bay in Vietnam, the temples of Angkor in Cambodia, the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and Machu Picchu in Peru.
But my beautiful hometown of Bristol has left the strongest impression of course! Not born and bred, but certainly raised and fed!
3. On which YouTube channels do you tend to ‘fall down a rabbit hole?”
Usually it's live footage of the Red Hot Chili Peppers or to catch-up on Arsenal or general football content, often Tubes and Ange's Golf Life, occasionally Hot Ones or Chicken Shop Date.
4. What would be your death row dinner?
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love sausages (steady) and pastry, but even the best sausage roll doesn't quite feel sufficient for a final feed. So I'd go with a gourmet version of Toad-in-the-Hole with a bed of mash in that yorkshire pudding (love them carbs!) accompanied with a rich onion gravy, minty peas (the poor man's vege, lol!), and a Guinness. Followed by a proper biscuit-based lemon cheesecake, a Jamesons and ginger ale, with a side order of Haribo Starmix, haha.
5. Who would your three celebrity dinner guests be?
Ian Wright, Bill Bailey and Sam Harris. That way conversation will likely cover my preferred topics of sport, music and philosophy with a vibe of light-hearted fun. And to sneakily include another favourite, I'd hire Steve Coogan as Alan Partidge to be our waiter! Lol
6. Do you have any personal mantras that you live by?
"You don't have to feel like doing something in order to do it - mood follows action!"
"Always prepare for the worst, but hope for the best!"
"Normal gets you nowhere; own who you are and let your geek flag fly!"
“Default to trust; there are bad eggs out there, but the vast majority have good intentions.”
"If in doubt be kind, to others and especially yourself!"
